Battenwear is designed to be technical enough for the great outdoors, but fashionable for everyday city life. Presenting a new interpretation of lifestyle apparel, Battenwear's founder, Shinya Hasegawa, shapes the brand from a unique vantage point; exploring the styles and cultural meaning of 1960s-1980s surf and outdoorwear - all from an East Coast perspective. Hasegawa reinterprets this era with precision, capturing nostalgia yet still showcasing a progressive style profile by updating classic garments. Battenwear's collections are informed by daily life - particularly Hasegawa's cultural experiences surfing in both New York and L.A. The brand crafts meaningful, built-to-last clothing that aligns to the lifestyles of both environments - with Battenwear using a design studio in California and maintaining ties to New York's famous garment district.
