Solovair
The county of Northamptonshire has a long rich history of shoe making dating back to the 13th century - due to its plentiful supply of oak bark, proximity to water, abundant supply of material and its central location in the country for trading links. Solovair was established under the name NPS by a few individuals in the village of Willaston, Northamptonshire who wanted to start a factory rather than working independently so they could make sure every worker was paid on time. Starting as a supplier to the British Army and becoming a manufacturer for Dr Martens until 1995, Solovair became the shoe that defined counterculture England through the 1990s thanks to each pairs sturdy and timeless build.
