Converse
Converse originally formed in the early 20th century, with the Massachusetts-based label aligned to the growing popularity of basketball on the East Coast. The All Star Shoe was visionary at the time, implementing a host of new features to help players on the court. A turning point for the label came in 1971, when it launched coloured canvas for the first time as a way for collegiate teams to represent their own colours. The All Star became a symbol of self-expression for youth community across America, becoming the shoe of choice in subcultures across art, music, skating - to name a few. The shoe still conveys the same sense of authenticity today - as the years have gone by the All Star's heritage has become even more deep-rooted, with the shoe still a go-to casual silhouette around the world today.
